I have had the opportunity to work with Matt Gray since 2013 to support Denver Math Fellows in their service as AmeriCorps members. Throughout our time working together, Matt has proven to be a reliable implementing partner, an insightful trainer, and a patient coach for many new educators.

Matt was instrumental in building the curriculum and training components of the AmeriCorps program. In launching the program’s school-year-long Critical Civic Reflection series, Matt designed a curriculum that complemented member’s growth during the school year, helping fellows integrate with school communities and supporting their development as reflective educators. Understanding that for most fellows AmeriCorps is a single year of service, Matt included time the end of the year to provide job search and interview support.

In addition to designing and implementing curriculum, Matt has also engaged many fellows in direct 1:1 coaching. Through individualized coaching, Matt helps fellows develop individualized personal/professional development plans or engage in deeper personal reflection. Like any good mentor, he demonstrates a commitment to follow-through to help fellows see their action plans to completion.

Matt’s strengths in program design, training, and coaching have been a tremendous asset to the Denver Math Fellows AmeriCorps program. His success is evidenced in the continual growth of fellows and their consistent positive feedback of his work. It has been a pleasure to work with and learn from him.
