Do you consider yourself a designer?
As you begin a new project where do you start? How do you know which team members to bring in and when? What processes do you use to define your goals, set specific guidelines, or clarify what success looks like? Is your model based on what you are ‘supposed to do,’ or your informed opinion about what you feel you need to do? Who are you talking to and collaborating with on your project? Where and how are you doing your research as you get started? Can you brainstorm and try things out along the way? Are you starting by considering the people that will be most impacted by your work?
Every season brings a renewed energy. I’ve been enjoying the reflective afternoons brought on by both the warmth and the intermittent thunder showers. So while sometimes this list of questions might launch me into a stress-induced tail spin, the summer months have allowed me to embrace a key element of being a designer: asking questions.
